NORFOLK, Va. – Any current Norfolk State students interested in joining the Spartan football program are required to attend a tryout information meeting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 in Gill Gymnasium. This is a mandatory meeting for all who want to try out.
Anyone interested must be a full-time Norfolk State University student, meet the following academic criteria and complete the following tasks. There are no exceptions.
Academic Needs for Returning/Transferring students
· Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
· Meet degree completion standards set by NCAA based on the student's academic classification.
Academic Needs for Freshman Students
· Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
· Must have been a NCAA qualifier out of high school. Minimum 2.3 core GPA along with a minimum SAT score of 980. Refer to the NCAA sliding scale if you had a higher core GPA.
Tasks
· Obtain a NCAA Clearinghouse ID number and have proof of NCAA intercollegiate athletics eligibility. Click on the link below to begin the process:Â
