La'Deja James was named the MEAC Co-Player of the Week and BOXTOROW National HBCU Player of the Week, and freshman guard
Cam Platt-Morris the Rookie of the Week in the latest weekly honors given by the conference. It's the first weekly conference award for either player this year, and the first week that NSU has two players that were honored.
James was given her award following a 27-point outing against Delaware State. She shot 10-of-19 from the floor to go along with four rebounds, five assists and four steals in a 65-57 overtime win. She scored a career-high 36 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in the come-from-behind win over North Carolina Central on Feb. 3.
Platt-Morris came up with the biggest shot of the season so far for NSU, forcing the game against Delaware State to overtime following a three-pointer with 5.6 seconds left in regulation. She would knock down another three-pointer in overtime, giving the Spartans the lead for good. Platt-Morris finished with a career-high 14 points, along with five rebounds and one steal.Â
The Spartans close out a three-game home stand with Morgan State on Saturday and Coppin State on Monday.Â
