Series History
Morgan State is one of the few teams in the league that has gotten the better of NSU at times in their recent history. The Spartans have won the last two after the Bears took three of four before that. Last year, NSU escaped with a 75-74 win at MSU to improve to 37-15 all-time. The Spartans have won the last three at Echols Hall.
After defeating Coppin State earlier this year in Baltimore, NSU has now won 13 in a row in the series dating back to the 2012-13 season. That has pushed the Spartans' all-time record against the Eagles to 32-11. CSU's last win came at Echols Hall in 2011-12. Since then, the Spartans have won six in a row at home over the Eagles.
Scouting the Opponents
Morgan State is currently fourth in the league standings at 7-4 behind NCCU, NSU and North Carolina A&T (8-3). After losing their first four MEAC games, Coppin State has alternated wins and losses over its last seven. Most recently, it earned an overtime victory at home against Maryland Eastern Shore, 68-67. That bumped the team's record to 4-7 in the league and 8-18 overall.
The Eagles shoot just 39 percent overall and 27 percent from deep, some of the worst percentages in the nation. The trio of Koby Thomas (12.8 points, 7.0 rebounds), Andrew Robinson (12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds) and Dejuan Clayton (12.1 points, 3.6 assists) are the team's primary scorers. Brendan Medley-Bacon has reached double figures in rebounds in the last seven games, tallying 8.3 rebounds per game with 6.3 points.
