NORFOLK, Va. – A total of nine Norfolk State student-athletes were named to the MEAC Softball All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.

MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade-point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for all-academic accolades. A total of 114 student-athletes across 11 institutions were honored with softball all-academic honors.

NSU's contingent of nine players included senior Shelby DesChamps, juniors Jade Dixon, Jazzmaine Hammond and Skylar Swain, and sophomores Kiiya Favors, Mia Holmes, Denisha Megginson, Lily Potter and Gabby Vaughan.

"I want to congratulate our softball student-athletes, who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2019-20 academic year," MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. "The ultimate goal is to develop and graduate our student-athletes to be productive citizens in our society."
