FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Kiara Grant got her third appearance at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships off to a fast start – literally. The senior won her heat of the 60-meter dash Friday night in a new school-record time of 7.11 seconds to qualify for Saturday's championship final.
Grant got out of the blocks quickly and never looked back, easily besting her own previous school record of 7.20 seconds. Overall, Grant was the second-fastest qualifier behind Southern Cal's Twanisha Terry, who won the second heat in 7.09 seconds. The collegiate record is 7.07, set by Oregon's Hannah Cunliffe in 2017 and matched by LSU's Aleia Hobbs in 2018.
The 60m final is at 7:10 p.m. ET Saturday and can be viewed live on ESPN3. Grant has already earned four All-America honors in her career, three coming indoors with two of those coming in the 60 meters.
