NORFOLK, Va. – It was a strong spring semester academically for the Norfolk State Athletics Department, highlighted by 186 student-athletes earning a spot on the Athletics Director's Honor Roll.
 
To be eligible for the AD Honor Roll, athletes must have a 3.0 or better GPA for the semester. Included in NSU's total are 18 student-athletes who had a perfect 4.0 GPA for the spring.
 
NSU's total of 186 fell just short of the school record of 189 set in the spring of 2020. This spring's total is also an increase of 16 from the fall of 2020.
 
Among NSU teams, football led the way with 57 student-athletes on the AD Honor Roll, with baseball next at 23 and men's track and field with 22.
 
Softball (19), women's track (16), and volleyball (15) were followed by women's tennis (9), men's basketball (8), women's basketball (6), men's tennis (6), and bowling (5) in rounding out NSU's athletics programs.
 
All nine active members of the women's tennis team and all six student-athletes for men's tennis earned AD Honor Roll recognition. Other teams that had the highest percentages included softball (19-of-21), volleyball (15-of-17) and bowling (5-of-6).
