LEESBURG, Va. – The Norfolk State women's cross country team returned to action after a nearly two-year break due to the pandemic last Friday as three runners competed in the season-opening George Mason Invitational.
Junior
Fridah Koech led the green and gold force with a sixth-place finish. She finished the 5,000-meter course in 20:03.2. The next Spartan to cross the finish line was junior
Faith Jemutai. She placed 11th and finished the race in 21:37.4.
Sophomore
Tynniesia Wilson, making her cross country debut, finished in 22:21.8.
The Spartans' full team is expected to compete in the next meet on the schedule, which is this Friday at the Virginia Invitational in Earlysville, Virginia.
