NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University will host the second annual
Kenneth Giles Track & Field Invitational this Friday and Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Twenty collegiate track and field teams, including the host Spartans, will compete in the year-and-a-half-old, state-of-the art complex near the Virginia Beach oceanfront. The facility, with NSU as host, will also welcome four NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship meets between 2023 and 2026.
This weekend's meet – NSU's second in a row at the VBSC - will also serve as a conference championship tuneup for the Spartans. The 2022 MEAC Indoor Championship also takes place Feb. 21-23 at the VBSC.
NSU had a total of nine first-place finishes –
five by the women,
four by the men – at last weekend's East Coast Invitational at the VBSC.
Competition this weekend begins at 2 p.m. Friday with the start of the women's heptathlon events. Saturday's action commences at 1 p.m. with the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles. Tickets are $15 per day and can be
purchased here.
