NORFOLK, Va. – 99 Norfolk State student-athletes landed on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 2022 Commissioner's All-Academic Team, released on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The recognition applies to student athletes, including sophomores to seniors, that earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. 54 NSU student-athletes made the team on the men's side, and 45 female student-athletes rounded out the list.
 
"I want to congratulate the 1,008 student-athletes who have been named to the first Commissioner's All-Academic Team," MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. "To have over a thousand student-athletes among our eight member institutions maintaining a 3.0 GPA is as impressive and noteworthy as every athletic accomplishment."
 
The 99 figure is amongst some of the top marks in NSU history. It came just short of matching the record-setting 101 athletes named to the team in 2021.
