EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Mercyline Kimaiyo paced the Spartan women's cross country team for the second straight time to begin her NSU career on Friday morning at the University of Virginia Invitational.
Kimaiyo finished the 5K Panorama Farms course in 18 minutes, 44.7 seconds. She placed 24th overall, ahead of 15 ACC runners.
Tynniesia Wilson was the next Spartan to cross the finish line. She was 36th overall in 19:53.3, just a second short of her 5K PR.
Kara Grant was next for NSU, placing 40th in 20:38.2
Faith Jemutai (21:56.6) and
Emani Thompson (22:13.2) rounded out the NSU top five.
The Spartans have the next week off before returning to competition at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh on Sept. 30.
