NORFOLK, Va. – Isaac Haywood was rewarded for a set of phenomenal performances over the weekend, with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) naming him the Men's Field Performer of the Week.
Haywood earned first place in triple jump at the Spartans' pre-national meet at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, recording a personal best of 50 feet, 6.25 inches.
The junior also notched two more top-ten finishes, taking seventh in high jump and 10
th in long jump. Haywood cleared a height of six feet, 4.75 inches in the high jump, while leaping 21 feet, 9.5 inches during the long jump.
The Spartans now must prepare for the 2023 MEAC Indoor Championship, hoping to repeat as conference champions. Haywood played a significant role in the team's success at the meet last season, earning high finishes in the triple jump (second), high jump (fourth), and long jump (seventh).
