Kierra Wheeler was named the HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW on Monday.

Wheeler averaged 16.3 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 57 percent from the field in three Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Basketball Tournament victories in being named the Most Outstanding Player.

In the Spartans' MEAC Tournament semifinal victory over North Carolina Central, the Minneapolis, Minn. native scored a season-high 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, while shooting 63 percent from the field (10-of-16).

Norfolk State earned the MEAC's automatic qualifier and was selected as a No. 16 seed in Sunday's NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Selection Show. The Spartans will face overall top seed South Carolina on Friday in Columbia, S.C.
