NORFOLK, Va. – Three Norfolk State student-athletes were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Track & Field Teams, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.

Kai Cole was named to the First Team, his second time receiving First Team All-State honors. The sprinter was named to the Indoor Track & Field All-State First Team in 2022, before earning Second Team selections for the 2022 outdoor season and 2023 indoor campaign.

Isaac Haywood (jumps) and Gidion Sigei (distance) landed on the All-State Second Team on Thursday as well. It marked the third career All-State accolade for Haywood and the first for Sigei.

Cole added to a terrific outdoor season with a spectacular showing at the MEAC Outdoor Championships, winning both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. He qualified for the NCAA East First Round meet in both events.

Haywood also nabbed a spot in the NCAA regional meet, with a season-best triple jump of 50 feet, 2.675 inches at the Virginia Challenge. He earned second in the event at the MEAC Outdoor Championships.

Sigei continued his dominance at the MEAC Outdoor Championships, winning the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters, while taking third in the 1500 meters. He shattered Norfolk State's school record in the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays, finishing in 29 minutes, 34.41 seconds.
