SMYRNA, Del. --- The Norfolk State men's cross-country team captured its fifth consecutive MEAC Championship Saturday morning in Smyrna, Delaware.
NSU finished 2-3-4-5-13-21 on the 8k course for 27 points to win the title. North Carolina Central followed with 59 points and Delaware State with 67 points.
Senior
Brian Rotich earned the top finish for the Spartans, clocking in at 23:34.60, placing second.
Raphael Kitur followed closely behind finishing in third place (23:59.90).
Senior
Victor Jumo placed fourth (24:18.80), while senior
Gidion Sigei finished fifth (24:18.80).
Sophomore
Basil Koech rounded out the Spartans' five scores, clocking a time of 26:04.20 to place 13th while sophomore
Christopher Bett posted a top-25 finish, finishing with a time of 27:03.40.
Head Coach
Kenneth Giles earned the Most Outstanding Coach award following the meet. With the conference title win, the Spartans will appear in the NCAA Southwest Regional, taking place on Friday, Nov. 15 in Rock Hill, S.C.
