VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Norfolk State men's track and field team put together a terrific final day of competition on Tuesday, winning its third consecutive MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

The Spartans cruised to victory by a margin of nearly 70 points, finishing the meet with 178 points. Howard took second place with 109 points, while Delaware State's 100 earned third.

Victor Jumo was named Most Outstanding Runner, tallying 21 points towards the team's total.
Kenneth Giles was named Most Outstanding Coach for the third consecutive year.

Kai Cole earned his third straight MEAC Indoor title in the 60 meters, making history in the process. Cole finished the preliminary race in 6.64 seconds to break Norfolk State's school record, previously held by Tim Montgomery (6.65) in 1996.

Isaac Haywood won the triple jump for the second straight year as well, his third consecutive medal in the event.

The Spartans got off to a terrific start on Friday, dominating the 5,000 meters.
Raphael Kitur won the event in 14:42.21, while
Gidion Sigei (14:42.97) and Jumo (14:50.92) finished third and fourth.

The Spartans continued that momentum on Monday, earning second in the distance medley relay in 10:12.90. Haywood finished third in the high jump soon after, clearing a height of 6-5.0).

After setting NSU's school record the previous day, Cole officially won the 60 meters on Tuesday with a time of 6.66 seconds. He earned another medal in the 200 meters later in the day, clocking in at 21.10 seconds.

Jumo continued to provide points in bunches, taking second in the mile (4:13.33) and the 3,000 meters (8:25.00). Kitur took third in the former and fourth in the latter, while Sigei tallied top five finishes in both as well.

Vincent Bond earned an individual victory in the 400 meters, completing the event in 46.75 seconds. Freshman
Premier Wynn followed closely behind, earning runner up honors in 46.82 seconds.

Haywood won the triple jump with a mark of 50 feet, 11.00 inches.
Andwele Shurland also contributed in the field events, earning second in the pole vault (13-11.25).

Norfolk State earned All-MEAC accolades in 12 different events over the course of the week.
