Johnson Earns MEAC Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. - Junior Diamond Johnson has won MEAC Player of the Week award after her effort helped the Norfolk State women's basketball team clinch the 2024 MEAC regular season title.

Johnson averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 steals, 3.5 assists, while shooting 51.6 percent from the field. Johnson also shot 50 percent from three-point range and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Johnson had 20 points, six steals, five assists, seven rebounds, and four three-pointers in the Spartans' 65-51 win over Delaware State on Saturday. Against Maryland Eastern Shore at home on Monday, Johnson recorded 21 points, four steals, two assists, and three rebounds in the 52-40 win.

Johnson has won a total of five weekly MEAC awards this season: one MEAC Defensive Player of the Week and four MEAC Player of the Week awards. 

The Spartans will play Howard in the final regular season game this Thursday at Joseph Echols Hall at 5 p.m.
