EARLYSVILLE, Va. --- In a talented field of three nationally ranked programs, Norfolk state took fourth place at the Virginia Invitational Saturday morning.
North Carolina won the 8k event, winning the tie breaker over Virginia with 31 points. Alabama-Huntsville took third with 87 points while Norfolk State was in fourth with 95 points.
Raphael Kitur led the Spartans, taking 14th place with a time of 24:37.60.
Gidion Sigei took 19th place, clocking in at 24:49.20 while
Brian Rotich took 23rd place (25:14.20).
Victor Jumo posted a time of 26:08.20, placing 30th. Sophomore
Basil Koech rounded out the five Spartan scorers, completing the course in 27:51.60 (48th place).

Christopher Bett was also featured for the Spartans and clocked a time of 28:46.60, placing 52nd.
Norfolk State will next compete in Greenville, N.C. on Oct. 4th at the ECU Pirate Invitational.
