McClain signs with Norfolk State Women’s Basketball

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State head women's basketball coach Jermaine Woods announced the program's second signing for the 2026-27 class, adding guard Elise McClain.

"I knew that Elise would be a good fit for our program," Woods said. "She is an extraordinary talent and brings size at the guard spot that we need. We are excited to add her to the family."

McClain, a six-foot guard from Huntsville, Ala., attends Bob Jones High School. She earned second-team all-state and all-region honors last season, averaging 19 points per game. As a freshman, she helped lead Bob Jones to a state runner-up finish.

McClain chose Norfolk State over Alabama A&M, Jackson State, Howard, and Seton Hall.

"I chose Norfolk State because it's a program that feels like family, but plays like champions," McClain said. "Coach Woods has created an environment of love, energy, and the drive to win. Those are qualities of a program that I want to be a part of."

A standout in the classroom as well, McClain is a frequent honor roll student and plans to major in premed at Norfolk State.

Norfolk State is off to a 2-1 start this season, earning wins over District of Columbia and Virginia State last week. The Spartans face their second nationally ranked opponent of the year, No. 15 Duke, this evening at 7 p.m. inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
