NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State women's basketball senior Ciara Bailey has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Bailey delivered a strong week on the defensive end, totaling 14 points, 17 rebounds, and seven blocks across three games.
Her top performance came against No. 21 Ohio State, where Bailey recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring the Spartans' interior defense against nationally ranked competition.
Bailey continues to rank among the MEAC's top all-around performers, leading the conference in both total blocks (22) and blocks per game (1.5). She also ranks 19th in the league in rebounds per game, averaging 4.3 boards per contest.
Norfolk State returns to action in the New Year, opening MEAC play on the road at North Carolina Central on Friday, January 3.
