Another School Record Falls on Day Two of the Division I Indoor Pre-Nationals

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- Another school record fell for the Norfolk State men's track & field team on day two of the Division I indoor Pre-Nationals at the Virginia Beach Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
 
Freshman Jaymes Saunders took down the heptathlon school record that has stood for two years with 4,921 points. Jayden Gordon placed second in the same event with 4,363 points.
 
The men's 4,000 DMR team consisting of Lewis Too, Devin Mosley, Victor Jumo, and Gidion Sigei took first place clocking a time of 10:40.04.
 
The Spartans had a strong showing in the 200 meters with Kendrick Winfield taking first place with a time of 21.24. Premier Wynn came in second place (21.57) while Julian Ward followed in sixth (21.57) and Vincent Bond Jr. in eighth (21.72) rounding out the top 10 finishers in the event.
 
Lavontay Bond earned a 12th place finish in the same event, finishing with a time of 21.72, while Christopher Basking took 13th place (21.90) and Antoinne Smith earned 14th place (21.93). Donovan Terry rounded out the NSU finishers in the 200 meters with a time of 22.01, placing 16th.
 
Sigei rounded out the running events, taking second place in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:23.73. Too also earned a top 10 finish in the event, clocking a time of 8:34.86 to take sixth.
 
Kristopher Stephens produced a pair of strong performances, taking third place in the triple jump (46-8) and third place in the high jump (6-4.75). Freshman Chazden Wilson also earned a fifth-place finish in the high jump (6-2.75)
 
Raeshon Smith earned a top 10 finish in the shot put, taking seventh (45-5.5), capping off the two-day meet.
 
Norfolk State now turns its attention to the MEAC Championships, taking place Feb. 23-24 at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
