VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- The Norfolk State women's track & field team produced strong performances on day two of the Division I Pre-Nationals at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Redshirt senior
Allysia Farrar led the way for the Spartans in the 200 meters, placing second with a time of 24.40.
Asiah Wike followed in eighth place (25.00) while
Brandy Hall also produced a top ten finish, taking 10th with a time of 25.12.
The Spartans also took the 16-19th spots in the 200 meters, led by
Kadynce Taylor (25.35). with
Daena Dyer (25.38),
Kalyncia Taylor (25.43), and
Zayre Floyd (25.54) following.
Norfolk State produced three top five finishes in the pentathlon led by
Essence Shaw in second place (2,795 points), Dyer in third place (2,777 points), and
Lexa Hunter in fourth place (2,567 points).
Abigael Chebet rounded out individual running events with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meters, clocking a time of 10:19.61.
The 4x400 relay team consisting of
Armani Harris,
Emani Thompson,
Kailie Borque, and
Jahmei Wyatt earned a third-place finish with a time of 3:57.25.
Sophomore
Aniah Kennerson took fourth place in the high jump (5-3.75), while
Leslie Young earned third place in the shot put (44-0.5).
Amanti Mayes also placed inside the top ten pf the shot put, taking eighth place (37-7), capping off day two of field events.
Norfolk State now turns its attention to the MEAC Championships, taking place Feb. 23-24 at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
