Moore Named MEAC Newcomer of the Year to Lead Three NSU Postseason Honorees

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Three Norfolk State men's basketball players earned MEAC Postseason Accolades, announced on Tuesday evening at the conference's awards presentation at Chrysler Hall.

Brian Moore Jr. headlined the night for the Spartans, coming away with the MEAC Newcomer of the Year award as well as a spot on the All-MEAC First Team. Christian Ings earned All-MEAC Third Team honors, while Kuluel Mading landed on the MEAC All-Defensive Team.

With Moore's accolade, Norfolk State has now taken home both MEAC Sixth Player of the Year recognitions. Graduate guard Allen Betrand received the inaugural award at the 2024 ceremony.

Moore has taken the MEAC by storm in his lone season with the Spartans after transferring from Murray State. The Harlem, N.Y. product currently averages 19.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and 42.2 percent from behind the arc. He is the only guard in the nation averaging at least 18 points per game while shooting 55.0 percent from the field or better (min. 20 games played).

Receiving MEAC Player of the Week accolades five times this season, Moore recorded three 30-point games including a 33-point outing at High Point. He was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week in December, awarded to the top performer in mid-major basketball.

Ings has established himself as one of the most electrifying guards in the conference, earning multiple appearances on SportsCenter with his high-flying dunks. The graduate guard averages 11.8 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per contest, shooting 50.8 percent from behind the arc. He led NSU to a pivotal victory over JMU earlier in the season, scoring 22 points on the Spartans' home floor.

Mading continues to protect the rim with vigilance, ranking third in the conference with 1.3 blocks per game. The senior forward earned back-to-back MEAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades during the heat of conference play, averaging 2.8 blocks per game over a four-game stretch.
