Spartans Sign Southland Conference Guard Dian Wright-Forde

NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk State men's basketball head coach Robert Jones continues to build his team's backcourt, signing former Texas A&M Corpus-Christi guard Dian Wright-Forde this week.

A 6-3 senior from Bay Shore, N.Y., Wright-Forde played a crucial role during his two years with Texas A&M Corpus-Christi. His strongest stretch came during his junior campaign, averaging 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

Wright-Forde comes to Norfolk State from a winning program, leading the Islanders to back-to-back 20-win seasons. Texas A&M Corpus-Christi owned a 24-14 record this year, going 12-8 in conference play.

A key contributor off the bench, Wright-Forde produced a 23-point outing as a junior against New Orleans, shooting a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line.

Wright-Forde started his collegiate career at Odessa College, guiding the Wranglers to a pair of National Tournament appearances. He led the team to a 28-7 record in 2021-22, going 16-0 in conference play.

Norfolk State comes off another historic season, winning the 2024-25 MEAC Tournament and Regular Season Championships. The Spartans made their fourth-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with three coming during Jones' time at the helm.
