NSU Lands Experienced MEAC Guard Cire Worley

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. --- Norfolk State women's basketball head coach Jermaine Woods continues to build his roster, signing former Coppin State guard Cire Worley.

The 6-0 sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa. brings experience and versatility to the Spartans' backcourt. Worley appeared in all 34 games for Coppin State last season, averaging 6.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, while also shooting 41 percent from the field. A threat from long range, she ranked ninth in the MEAC in 3-point shooting at 33.1 percent.

Worley played a key role in helping the Eagles to a 19-15 overall record and their second-ever postseason win in program history, defeating Colgate in the first round of the WNIT. She logged nine double-figure scoring games during the season, highlighted by a 22-point performance in a win over Bryant.

Worley began her collegiate career at UMass Lowell prior to her time at Coppin State, where she averaged 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. She recorded four double-digit scoring games, including a season-high 15 points and four 3-pointers against NJIT.

Norfolk State comes off a historic season, winning a third consecutive MEAC Tournament Championship. The Spartans made their fourth-ever trip appearance in the NCAA Tournament, earning a No. 13 seed, marking the program's highest seeding in the tournament.
