Moore Earns Program’s First VaSID State Player of the Year Award

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – For the first time ever, the Virginia Sports Information Director's (VaSID) State Men's Basketball Player of the Year award has gone to a Norfolk State student-athlete.

Brian Moore Jr. adds the historic recognition to an illustrious resume from this past season, earning the 2024-25 VaSID Player of the Year accolade – announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. He was also named to the VaSID All-State First Team.

Moore became the first player in program history to win the award, recognizing the top college basketball player in the state of Virginia. He joins a prestigious list – alongside Chakowby Hicks, Kyle O'Quinn, Pendarvis Williams and Joe Bryant Jr. (twice) – of Norfolk State's all-state first team honorees.

Moore took the MEAC by storm in his lone season with the Spartans after transferring from Murray State. The Harlem, N.Y. product averaged 18.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 39.4 percent from behind the arc. He was the only guard in the nation to average at least 18.0 points per game while shooting 54.0 percent from the field or better (min. 20 games played).

Leading the Spartans to their fourth-ever MEAC Tournament title, Moore took home the MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player Award.

Moore became just the second Norfolk State player in program history awarded the Lou Henson Award, recognizing the top mid-major player in college basketball.
