NORFOLK, Va. --- Norfolk State kicker Evan Helfrich received MEAC Specialist of the Week honors announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
 
Helfrich, a 6-foot-2 freshman from Wake Forest, N.C., drilled the game-winning 29-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Spartans to a 34-31 victory over Virginia State in the "Battle of the States." He also went a perfect 4-for-4 on PAT attempts.
 
Norfolk State returns to action on the road for the first time this season, traveling to Rutgers on Saturday, Sept. 13. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. in Piscataway, N.J.
