PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- The Norfolk State women's track & field team posted several notable results at the Penn Classic on Friday and Saturday.
Brooklyn Robinson led the Spartans across multiple events, highlighted by a school-record run in the 60-meter hurdles. Robinson clocked an 8.21 in the finals to break the school record she set last season. She also placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.76 meters and finished ninth in the 200 meters at 24.63.
Norfolk State posted solid results in the 60-meter preliminaries, paced by
Autumn Burrell, who finished seventh in 7.57.
Brandy Hall followed in ninth at 7.60, while
Asiah Wike placed 11th with a time of 7.62.
Daena Dyer added an 11th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdle prelims, crossing the line in 8.82, while Robinson won the prelims of the same event with a time of 8.31.
The Spartans' distance group placed three runners inside the top 15 of the 3,000 meters, led by
Sonia Koech's sixth-place finish in 10:25.17.
Amira Dailey took 11th at 10:42.33, and
Abigael Chebet finished 13th in 10:51.11.
Freshman
Yowome Ayim rounded out the highlights with a 13th-place showing in the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.31 meters.
Norfolk State returns to action Feb. 13–14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
