TAMPA, Fla. – The Norfolk State women's track and field team opened the outdoor season with a strong showing at the USF Alumni Meet, highlighted by a dominant performance from
Brooklyn Robinson and multiple top-10 finishes over the weekend.

Robinson led the Spartans, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 13.25 after qualifying with a 13.30 in the prelims. She also placed 26th in the long jump (5.33 meters).

Autumn Burrell paced Norfolk State in the sprints, finishing 16th in the 100 meters (11.81) and competing in the 200 meters (24.53).
Asiah Wike (12.03) and
Nevaeh Lewis (12.61) added depth in the 100 meters.

Payton Drumwright led NSU in the 400, placing 25th (56.87), and took 11th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.07).
Jada Arrington (58.02) in the 400 and
Trinity Lucas (1:06.27) in the 400 hurdles also turned in solid performances.

Jahmei Wyatt led the Spartans in the middle-distance events, finishing 27th in the 800 (2:20.07) and 19th in the 1,500 (4:46.82).
Abigael Chebet highlighted the distance group with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 (18:16.81) and competed in the 1,500 (5:12.75).

In the field events,
Essence Shaw cleared 1.65 meters to place 16th in the high jump.
Yowome Ayim led the Spartans in the long jump (5.38 meters, 23rd) and placed 21st in the triple jump (11.47 meters).
Amanti Mayes finished 17th in the shot put (12.66 meters).

Kaena Riley (36.17 meters) and
Kayla Spencer (33.90 meters) competed in the hammer throw.

Norfolk State closed the meet with a ninth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay, as Wike, Burrell, Robinson, and Lewis combined for a time of 45.69.

Norfolk State returns to action March 27 at the Bill Carson Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
