NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State track and field team returns to William "Dick" Price Stadium this weekend to host the annual NSU Track & Field Invitational on Saturday, April 4.

ABOUT THE MEET
Nine teams will compete Saturday, including Bowie State, Bryant & Stratton, District of Columbia, Hampton, Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, Richard Bland, and Virginia Union.

Fans can follow the meet via Atlantic Coast Timing. Field events begin at 9 a.m. with the women's javelin, followed by the men's javelin. Running events start at 1 p.m. with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, followed by the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.

OUTLOOK - NORFOLK STATE MEN
Norfolk State opened the outdoor season with strong performances at the South Florida Alumni Meet and the Bill Carson Invitational. The Spartans will pursue their fifth consecutive MEAC Outdoor Championship this season.

Kristopher Stephens leads the Spartans in the field, posting two marks inside the top 50 in the NCAA East Region. He ranks 43rd in both the long jump (7.20 meters) and triple jump (14.08 meters).

Both Norfolk State relay teams rank inside the top 50 in the region. The 4x100-meter relay team sits 24th (40.18), while the 4x400-meter relay team ranks 27th (3:11.52).
Kendrick Winfield ranks 60th in the 400 meters with a time of 47.72.

OUTLOOK – NORFOLK STATE WOMEN
Norfolk State also opened its season at the South Florida Alumni Meet and the Bill Carson Invitational. The Spartans will aim for their first MEAC Outdoor Championship since 2001.

Brooklyn Robinson leads the Spartans on the track, holding the seventh-fastest time in the NCAA East Region in the 100-meter hurdles (13.25). She also ranks 38th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.61. The 4x100-meter relay team ranks 48th in the region (45.69).

Lexa Hunter leads the Spartans in field events. She placed third in the pole vault last week, clearing 3.08 meters.
Yowome Ayim added a top-five finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.35 meters.
