Box Score NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team closed out its regular season in strong fashion, defeating North Carolina Central 5-2 on Thursday afternoon at the Nat Warren Tennis Center. With the victory, the Spartans secured a share of the MEAC regular season title and will await the results of remaining conference matches to determine seeding for the upcoming MEAC Tournament.
Norfolk State improves to 14-9 overall and 5-1 in MEAC play, positioning itself to share the regular season crown with either Howard or Morgan State, both of whom have conference matches still to play.

The Spartans jumped out to an early advantage by claiming two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Yuliya Yurkova and Julia Daroszewska set the tone at the top flight with a dominant 6-0 victory over Patricia Palencia and Sara Barbaric. North Carolina Central responded at No. 3 doubles, where Alejandra Hidalgo Vega and Valentina de Aquino defeated Ines Sabadie and Angelina Maniawska 6-1 to even the doubles point.
Norfolk State secured the doubles advantage at the No. 2 position, as Yana Klimchuk and Regina Urbiola earned a 6-2 win over Mariana Zottoli and Valeria San Miguel Soria.
In singles action, the Spartans won four of six matches to clinch the team victory.
Urbiola extended NSU's lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over Palencia, before Sabina Iurea made it 3-0 following a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Journee Henderson.
Klimchuk secured the match for Norfolk State with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Zottoli at No. 4 singles. Daroszewska added another point at No. 2 singles, battling to a three-set victory (1-6, 6-3, 7-5) over San Miguel Soria.
The Eagles claimed the final two points of the match. Elena Martinez Prado fell in a three-set contest at No. 5 singles, while Yurkova dropped a tightly contested match at the top flight, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.
