NSU Women Play at Stetson

Sophomore Genor Dalton and the Spartans Take on Stetson on Sunday

Game Notes

DELAND, Fla. — The Norfolk State women's basketball teams takes on Stetson University at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Edmunds Center.

NSU (0-1) dropped its first game of the season with a 91-42 loss to the University of Miami on Friday afternoon at the BankUnited Center. Miami (1-0) controlled every aspect of the game, shooting 45.5 percent (35-of-77) from the floor for the game, forcing 29 turnovers and outrebounding NSU 60-27. Danelle Tate led NSU with 12 points and seven rebounds and freshman Marquilla Evans had 11 points and six boards.

Stetson also lost its first game of the season, falling 73-58 to the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Friday at Barrow Arena in Birmingham, Ala. Sophomore Tierra Brown paced the Hatters with 14 points and three steals. Sharnesha Smith finished with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while junior Ashli Jackson notched seven points, eight rebounds and a block.
