Men's Tennis Shuts Down WSSU, 7-0

Five of Six Spartans Earn Straight-Set Wins

NORFOLK, Va.
– The Norfolk State men's tennis team snapped its two-match losing streak with a 7-0 win over Winston-Salem State on Tuesday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Complex.

The Spartans (2-5) swept the three doubles matches. The teams of Petr Krakora (Brno, Czech Republic) and Miroslav Vlcek (Vyskov, Czech Republic) and Vassil Zahariev (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Bogdan Yordanov (Sofia, Bulgaria) both won by scores of 8-3. The No. 3 team of Roman Del Castillo (Lima, Peru) and Keenan Ruff (Norfolk, Va.) won its match, 8-2.

Vlcek, Krakora, Del Castillo, Zahariev and Yordanov all won their singles matches in straight sets. Krakora and Yordanov both won without dropping a game, while Del Castillo and Zahariev just dropped one apiece.

The Spartans resume MEAC play this Friday at Bethune-Cookman.
