RALEIGH, N.C. – Norfolk State University junior Miroslav Vlcek (Vyskov, Czech Republic) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year and was selected to the All-MEAC first team, the conference announced at its post-season awards banquet.

Vlcek compiled an 8-2 regular-season singles record at the No. 1 position heading into this weekend's MEAC Championship, including a perfect 3-0 mark against opponents from the MEAC Southern Division. He won eight matches in a row following season-opening losses to opponents from Old Dominion and UNC Greensboro.

Vlcek has also compiled a 7-3 doubles record, including a 7-2 mark with Petr Krakora (Brno, Czech Republic).

This is the first time a Spartan man has been named MEAC Player of the Year. Vlcek earned MEAC Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman in 2006.
