Greer Helps NSU to 3-0 Win Over Winston-Salem State

Elayne Greer had match-highs of 10 kills and five aces in the win over WSSU

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.Elayne Greer (Bakersfield, Calif.) had match-highs of 10 kills and five service aces to help the Norfolk State volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Winston-Salem State on Sunday afternoon at the C.E. Gaines Center. NSU won the match 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.

WSSU (4-27) scored first in the first set, but NSU (6-18) answered quickly and broke a 12-all tie on a kill by Greer to take the lead for the remainder of the set. It was much of the same in the next two sets where both teams kept it close early, but the Spartans were able to shut down the Lady Rams on both occasions to win the match.

Ashley Harris led WSSU with eight kills and Alexandria Brown had a team-high 12 digs.

Nicole Kessner (Blacksburg, Va.) led all players with 29 assists and had a match-high-tying nine digs for NSU. Tracey Copley (Virginia Beach, Va.) also had nine digs in the win.

NSU plays at South Carolina State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
