Whitehead Named to Walter Camp, AP, TSN All-America Teams

Whitehead is NSU's first Walter Camp All-American since 2004.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State senior safety Terrell Whitehead (Virginia Beach, Va.) has been named a first-team Division I FCS All-American by three of the most prestigious sources. Whitehead was selected to the Walter Camp, Associated Press (AP) and The Sports Network's first teams, capping an illustrious four-year Spartan career.

Whitehead is NSU's second-ever Walter Camp All-American and first since linebacker Kevin Talley in 2004. He is also the school's first-ever AP first-team All-American. In the process, Whitehead becomes NSU's first-ever three-time FCS All-American. He was named to The Sports Network's All-America third team as a sophomore in 2007 and as a junior in 2008.

The Walter Camp All-America Team is one of the more prestigious in the country and honors just a first-team offense and defense, no second-team or honorable mentions.

Whitehead (6-2, 200) became NSU's first-ever three-time All-MEAC pick this season, all being first-team designations. He was second on the team with 70 total tackles and tied for the MEAC lead with five interceptions. He returned those picks for 130 yards, including one touchdown.

Whitehead, who spearheaded the MEAC's top pass defense, added four pass deflections, three tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week twice, both coming in the final two weeks. He ended his collegiate career as the FCS active leader in career interceptions, with 18.

Whitehead was also the only MEAC offensive or defensive player selected to the Walter Camp team. Return specialist LeRoy Vann of Florida A&M was the MEAC's only other pick.
