NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University senior free safety Terrell Whitehead (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named to The Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision Preseason All-America first team, the organization announced.
Whitehead has been named to TSN's All-America third team after each of the last two seasons. He is also a two-time All-MEAC first-team performer. In 2008, Whitehead led NSU and ranked seventh in the MEAC with 83 tackles. He had the second-most passes defended (15) of any MEAC player, tallying four interceptions and 11 pass deflections. His four picks gave him 13 for his career and tied for fourth-most in the MEAC.
Already this preseason, Whitehead has been named to the Consensus Draft Services All-America first team and was selected preseason MEAC Defensive Player of the Year by The Sporting News preview magazine.
