CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team finished their fall season this weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional in Charlottesville, Va. Sophomore Igor Braga led the way in the singles main draw defeating Old Dominion's Alfredo Rodriguez, 6-3, 7-6, before falling to Ethan Dunbar of Richmond, 6-1, 6-1.
Junior Peter Rastromer-Pello and freshman Sam Lemberger competed in the qualifying draw of the singles bracket. Pello defeated Erik Thunberg of St. Joe's, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, before falling to George Mason's Tanner Baine, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Lemberger defeated Temple's Hernan Vasconez, 6-3, 7-6, before losing to St. Joe's Dan Barrus, 6-3, 6-3.
Freshman Dzmitry Zyhmantovich and sophomore Daniel Grauel competed in the main draw of the singles matches. Zyhmantovich lost to Zvonimir Podvinski of Old Dominion, 7-5, 6-2, and UMBC's Kamal Patel, 7-6, 7-5. Grauel fell to Longwood's Dan Elston, 6-1, 6-4, and Tim Schweig of Old Dominion, 6-3, 6-4.
Rastromer-Pello and Zyhmantovich competed together in the main draw of the doubles bracket where they fell to James Madison's Ryan Pool and Robert Stirling, 8-3. Grauel and Lemberger fell to Reese Milner and John Brosens of Georgetown, 8-6.
The Spartans will return to action on Jan. 20 when they take on Old Dominion.
