Tied at 4-4 in the first set, Gold scored the next four points to take an early lead in the match. Sophomore
Adriana Ramos' service ace made it 10-5 a short time later, and then a kill and service ace from freshman
Darcy Moore gave Gold a 12-8 lead. Several errors on Gold and a kill from Thiim cut the deficit to one, 15-14, but Gold scored 10 of the next 11 points of the set to take the win, 25-15.
