MEAC Day 2 Results
LANDOVER, Md. – The Norfolk State women's distance medley relay team earned a third-place finish, and freshman
Kiara Howell took fourth place in the weight throw for the Spartans during day two of the MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George Sports & Learning Complex.
The Spartans have 25 points entering the final day of action. Hampton leads with 52.5 points.
NSU's team of
Jamia Hutto,
Champagne Bell,
Ra'Shaun Combs and
Rachel Webb placed third in the DMR in a time of 12 minutes, 24.89 seconds. That trailed only first-place UMES and runner-up North Carolina A&T.
The Spartans' scored in one other event on Friday, with Howell taking five points with her fourth-place finish in the weight throw. Her best throw was 50 feet, 2.5 inches.
The Spartans fared well in the 60 meters, as sophomores
Brittney McCants (7.57) and
Torie Cunningham (7.60) advanced to Saturday's event final. NSU did not score in the 800 though, and weren't able to advance anyone through in the 400 meters.
