NORFOLK, Va. –The Norfolk State men's tennis team defeated Virginia Union, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

NSU improved to 7-6 overall while Virginia Union fell to 2-8 on the season.

Peter Ramstromer-Pello and Dzmitry Zyhmantovich led off the doubles matches for NSU with an 8-0 win over Jarvis Rideau and James Berry. The Spartans claimed the doubles point when Igor Braga and Robin Riethmueller posted an 8-1 victory over Charles Sheets and Terrence Malone.

Zyhmantovich competed in the No. 1 singles position, where he defeated Rideau, 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 2 spot, Braga claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win over Berry. Robin competed at the No. 3 slot and posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Malone. In match No. 4, Ramstromer-Pello defeated Sheets, 6-0, 6-0. Daniel Grauel competed at the No. 5 spot where he came out with 6-0, 6-0 win over David Taylor.

The Spartans will return to the courts on Friday to take on Chowan in Norfolk, Va. The matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
