NSU Sweeps Randolph-Macon, 7-0

NORFOLK, Va. –The Norfolk State men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-0 win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Complex.

The Spartans improved to 12-8 overall while Randolph-Macon fell to 8-12 on the season.

NSU started off hot in the doubles competition. In match one, Dzmitry Zyhmantovich and Peter Ramstromer-Pello posted an 8-1 victory over Connor Hoerr and Michael Baxter. At the No. 2 spot, Igor Braga and Robin Riethmueller defeated John Adam and Jody Cox, 8-1. Daniel Grauel and Samuel Lemberger improved to 8-4 on the season with their 8-0 victory against Austin Collett and Richard Brock.

In the singles matches, Zyhmantovich (13-5) posted a 6-2, 6-0 win against Hoerr. In match number two, Riethmueller (14-4) upended Baxter, 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 3 position, Braga (8-11) defeated Adam, 6-0, 6-0. Ramstromer-Pello (11-8) claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Ira Usry in match four. At the No. 5 slot, Lemberger (6-10) defeated Tom Lewis, 6-1, 6-1. Grauel (10-7) closed out the singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dylan Scott.

The Spartans will travel to Raleigh, N.C., to compete at the 2013 MEAC Championships on April 19.
