NSU Falls to FAMU, 4-0, in MEAC Semifinal

RALEIGH, N.C. –The Norfolk State men's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss to Florida A&M in the semifinals of the 2013 MEAC Tennis Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Millbrook Tennis Center.

The Spartans, seeded third in the MEAC southern division, closed out the season with a 13-9 overall record. FAMU, which is the top seed in the northern division, will take on South Carolina State in the finals on Sunday.

Robin Riethmueller and Igor Braga posted NSU's only win of the day with an 8-3 victory over Zack Evenden and Temuera Asafu-Adjaye in match No. 2 of the doubles competition. In match No. 1, Dzmitry Zyhmantovich and Peter Ramstromer-Pello fell to Salif Kante, 8-4. Daniel Grauel and Samuel Lemberger suffered an 8-2 loss to Admire Mushonga and Chidi Gabriel.

NSU continued to struggle in the singles matches. Kante upended Zyhmantovich, 6-4, 6-4 in match No. 1. In match No. 5, Lemberger fell to Happy, 6-3, 6-2. Grauel closed things out for the Spartans with a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Asafu-Adjaye.
