NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore Faith Summey was named the MEAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
A native of Eldoret, Kenya, Summey ran a season-best time of 19:00.90 to capture the individual title in the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational 5K race on Saturday in Princess Anne, Md.
The Spartans also claimed its first team victory of the season. NSU tallied 35 points followed by Seton Hall (47), Howard (73), Maryland Eastern Shore (97), Delaware State (125) and Coppin State (133).
NSU will have this weekend off before they return to action on Oct. 5 at the George Mason Invitational in Leesburg, Va.
