NSU Defeats UMES, 5-0

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's team claimed a 5-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore for its third win straight on Friday morning at the Everett Tennis Center.

The Spartans improve to 8-5 on the season, while UMES falls to 0-9 overall.

NSU claimed the doubles point in the first two spots. Daniel Grauel and Kent Austin posted an 8-0 win against Wirlen Elame and Mohin Uddin. Dzmitry Zyhmantovich and Peter Ramstromer-Pello defeated Kijontray McClay and Wayne Heath, 8-0. Zyhmantovich and Ramstromer-Pello are now 5-3 in doubles play.

Zyhmantovich improved to 11-2 in singles play after posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Elame. Ramstromer-Pello upended McClay, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot. He is now 9-4 in singles competition. Grauel competed at the No. 3 position, where he defeated Uddin, 6-0, 6-0. Austin closed out singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Heath. The No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches were scheduled, but not played.

NSU returns to action on April 4 against Virginia Union.
