Trail, Marrow Named to The Sports Network Preseason All-America Team

Trail Earns 1st Team Nod, Marrow Named to 2nd Team

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University seniors Lynden Trail and Darrin Marrow were named Tuesday to The Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Preseason All-America Team. Trail, a linebacker, was named to the All-America first team and Marrow, a cornerback, was named to the second team.

Trail is coming off a stellar junior campaign. He was named to the 2013 FCS All-America first team by The Sports Network, the third team by The Associated Press and honorable mention by Beyond Sports Network. He also earned first-team All-MEAC accolades for the second year in a row after leading NSU with 94 tackles, including 12.5 for loss and 8.5 sacks. His five forced fumbles tied for the most in the nation. Trail placed eighth in the voting for the 2013 Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top FCS defensive player in the nation.

Already this summer, Trail has been chosen to the FCS Preseason All-America first team by both The Sporting News and Lindy's college football preview magazines and by Beyond Sports Network. He was also listed as the MEAC's top defensive player by The Sporting News publication.

Marrow tied for the conference lead with five interceptions last year, his first at cornerback, en route to first-team All-MEAC accolades. The former free safety also had 11 pass deflections, giving him 16 total passes defended – second in the MEAC and tied for eighth in the nation among FCS players. Marrow also had 37 tackles, three for loss, and a forced fumble. Marrow was also chosen as a first-team preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network.

There were a total of seven MEAC players named to either TSN's Preseason All-America first, second or third teams. NSU was the only school with more than one player represented. Trail and North Carolina Central return specialist Adrian Wilkins were the only conference players on the TSN first team.
