King Named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for 3rd Time

NORFOLK, Va. – For the second week in a row, Norfolk State senior linebacker Deon King was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced.

King racked up 18 tackles in Saturday's 17-10 loss to South Carolina State. King also had three tackles for loss, including a pair of sacks, in his final home game at NSU. The honor is King's third MEAC Defensive Player of the Week award this year, most of any MEAC player.

The 18 tackles were King's most this year in a MEAC game and third-most of the season, trailing only his back-to-back 21-tackle efforts at Old Dominion and Marshall. King continues to lead all of Division I in total tackles (149) and tackles per game (14.9). He also has nine tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception and one forced fumble to his credit this year.

King's 149 tackles rank as the second-most in NSU's Division I history, trailing only FCS single-season record holder Kevin Talley's 195 in 2003.
