Box Score 2 NORFOLK, Va. – Matt Outman pitched seven scoreless innings and
Angel Rosario had a career-high four hits to lead Norfolk State to an 8-0 win in game one of a doubleheader with Jackson State on Thursday night. The Tigers won the nightcap 9-0 to earn a split of the double-dip.
With the win in the opener, the Spartans (25-14) matched the 2007 and 2008 Spartan teams for the most wins in a season in NSU's Division I history.

Outman (8-2) matched his win total from last season by pitching seven scoreless innings in the opener. He scattered seven hits and one walk while striking out three.
Cooper Jones pitched two perfect innings of relief, striking out two.
The Spartans plated four runs in the fourth and four more in the seventh. In the fourth,
Troy Applin and Rosario both hit two-run singles to break a scoreless tie. Applin and
Omar Hotusing had run-scoring singles in the seventh and
Roger Hall drew a bases-loaded walk to force in another run.
Rosario went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI, Applin went 2-for-5 with a career-best three runs batted in and
Mikey Bruno went 2-for-5.
In game two, JSU's Jevon Jacobs pitched a four-hit shutout, walked two and struck out five. JSU scored the game's first run on an error in the second inning, then Jesus Santana hit a two-run double in the fifth to stretch the lead to 3-0. The Tigers tacked on six runs off the NSU bullpen in the seventh through ninth frames.
Melvin Rodriguez went 3-for-4 and Gary Thomas was 2-for-6 for the Tigers (30-22) in the nightcap.
The games were played in front of a season-high crowd of 637 fans. The event was also NSU's annual Baseball vs. Hunger game, with proceeds benefitting the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
The teams conclude their respective regular seasons with a 12 noon game on Friday.
