LANDOVER, Md. – Junior
Chris Lee repeated as MEAC indoor shot put champion to lead the Norfolk State men's track and field team to a runner-up finish at the 2017 MEAC Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.

The Spartans finished the meet with 96 points. North Carolina A&T took the team title with 146.5.

Lee's best throw Saturday traveled 52 feet, 5.5 inches, some two feet ahead of runner-up Anthony Britt of South Carolina State. His win highlighted a strong final day for NSU as scored points in seven events. In addition to Lee, senior
Johnathan Anderson posted a PR in the shot put with a top throw of 48-5.5, earning fifth place.
Felix Kiprotich capped his the first MEAC indoor meet with a strong showing Saturday, finishing as runner-up in the mile (4:15.86) and third in the 3,000 meters (8:42.13). Kiprotich was one of three Spartans to score in the 3,000, with
Ronald Korir securing fourth (8:44.63) and
Anteneh Girma fifth (8:47.95).

Elsewhere, junior
Allan Frye ran a PR while placing third in the 60-meter hurdles. He clocked his first sub-8.00 run in the event, registering a time of 7.98 seconds in a close final. Hampton's Charles Graham won in 7.95 and North Carolina A&T's Todd Townsend was second in 7.96, just ahead of Frye.

Also on Saturday,
Shaw Barfield placed fifth in the pole vault with a clearance of 13-2.25,
Michael-Thomas Brown placed seventh in the 60-meter dash in 6.87 seconds, and the 4x400 team of Frye,
Rashad Ramsey,
Justin Pinder and
Jaylen Banks closed the meet with a sixth-place showing in 3:20.01.
