NORFOLK, Va. – Junior
Alexa Rodriguez of the Norfolk State bowling team was honored by the MEAC on Tuesday when she was named the league's Co-Bowler of the Week.
Rodriguez led the Spartans to a fourth-place finish at the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State over the weekend. She averaged 208.2 in five traditional games on Saturday, hitting the 200 mark in four of them. She also competed in all seven Baker games, helping NSU finish with a 5-2 record in those games.
She tied her season high with a 225 in a win over Coppin State on Saturday. She also rolled games of 224, 214 and 201. She averaged exactly 208.2 for the second time in three tournaments after also doing so at the Kutztown Invitational on Jan. 20.
For the season, the Carolina, Puerto Rico native leads the Spartans with a 196.7 average. She has rolled at least a 196 in all six tournament this year.
Rodriguez shared the award this week with North Carolina A&T's Ana Olaya.
NSU gets back to work this upcoming weekend when the Spartans compete in the last MEAC Southern Divisional of the season. North Carolina A&T will serve as host for the two-day tournament that starts on Saturday.
