Spartans Impress in First-Ever NCAA Southeast Regional Appearance

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Norfolk State women's cross country team completed its 2023 campaign on Friday afternoon, competing in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships as a team for the first time in program history.
 
Mercyline Kimaiyo led the Norfolk State finishers, completing the 6k course at Milliken Research Park in 21 minutes, 22.4 seconds. The time earned her 74th place in a field of over 230 runners.
 
Kara Grant was the next Spartans to cross the finish line, taking 163rd with a time of 22:55.7. Ludjenie Mondesir followed closely behind at 23:03.0.
 
Jahmei Wyatt also finished in the top 200 with a time of 23:18.6, while Dorcas Kosgei clocked a 23:58.2 time to place 204th.
